iPhone stuck on the Apple logo or restarting in a loop: what to do

Your iPhone shows the Apple logo and won't load, or keeps restarting. What you can do yourself without losing data, and when you need a technician.

The Apple logo is on screen and the progress bar doesn't move, or the phone turns on and restarts a minute later. It happens after an update, with full storage, after a drop or water.

Step 1. Force restart

Quickly press and release volume up, then volume down, then hold the side button for 10–20 seconds until the logo appears. Sometimes that's enough.

Step 2. Free up storage, if it boots

A completely full iPhone may fail to boot after an update. Delete large videos and unused apps.

Step 3. Update via a computer (without losing data)

  1. Connect the iPhone to a computer with Finder (Mac) or iTunes / the Apple Devices app (Windows).
  2. Put the iPhone into recovery mode: the same buttons as the restart, but keep holding the side button until you see a computer and cable icon.
  3. The computer offers "Update" or "Restore". Choose "Update": the system reinstalls and your data stays.
  4. "Restore" erases everything; only choose it if you have a backup.

When you need a technician

The good news: a boot loop is often fixed by replacing one part (the battery, the bottom cable or a module) and the data stays in place.

How we help

The phone inspection is free (board diagnostics cost 100 ₾ only if you decline the repair): we find what's causing the restarts and quote the price before the repair. If keeping your data matters, tell us up front. More: phone won't turn on and how to save your photos.
